Translation agency for D-A-CH

Your translation service: one contact for specialised and certified translations.

The Fachübersetzungsdienst (FÜD) is a translation agency certified to DIN EN ISO 17100, based in Germany and present in Austria and Switzerland. We translate specialist texts for companies – law, technology, medicine, research and websites – and produce certified translations for authorities and courts – as a professional translation service and agency in over 70 languages.

The difference is in the standard: assigned professional translators instead of a random match, managed terminology instead of word-for-word, a binding price before the order and – where a body requires it – certification by authorised translators. Entirely without machine translation and AI on request. If you are choosing between service models, our translation provider comparison contrasts agency, freelancer and machine translation.

Based outside Germany, Austria or Switzerland? Our German ⇄ English service for English-speaking clients runs under our international brand termbase.

Who we work for

Those who depend on every word – work with the FÜD.

From corporations to ministries, from publishers to agencies – and for private individuals who need a certified translation. Each group has different demands – as a translation agency with specialised translators, we know them.

Price & fixed price

One fixed price – before the order.

The specific price depends on volume, language direction, field and deadline. You receive it bindingly before the order – with no recalculation.

How the FÜD works

From the file to the sealed original.

STEP 1

Upload document

You upload your document securely or request a project – we review volume, language and deadline.

STEP 2

Specialist assigned

A translator qualified for your field takes over – for certificates, a court-authorised translator.

STEP 3

Review & certification

Terminology and quality control to DIN EN ISO 17100; where needed, with a certification note.

STEP 4

PDF first, original by post

You receive the PDF in advance and – for certified translations – the sealed original by post.

Why professional professional translation

Translation is market access – not a luxury.

For export-strong companies, authorities and publishers the right language is rarely optional – often it is a legal requirement. Three reasons why professional translation is a matter for the boardroom.

Rank 3

Export nation Germany

Germany is the world's third-largest goods-exporting nation – around € 1,570 billion in goods exports in 2025. Anyone supplying target markets must communicate there in a legally sound and comprehensible way.

Destatis, 2026

24

Official languages as a duty

The EU has 24 official languages. The MDR and the new Machinery Regulation require labelling and instructions in the official language of the target country – for EU-wide distribution, up to 24 language versions before market entry.

Reviewed, not generated

For a translation service delivered under ISO 17100, the standard requires revision by a second qualified person; machine-translation plus post-editing is outside the scope of ISO 17100:2015. The FÜD is registered with DIN CERTCO under Reg. 7U517.

With rare languages, availability decides – not price.

A certified translation may only be produced by a court-authorised or publicly appointed and sworn translator. How many there are depends heavily on the language: the justice database lists 7,972 entries for English and eight for Swahili. With rare languages, availability is the real project risk.

An authorisation granted in one federal state applies nationwide before courts and authorities – regardless of where the translator was authorised.

From D-A-CH to the world – humanly accountable.

Controlled technology (Trados, memoQ, terminology) plus assigned human responsibility – entirely without machine translation and AI on request. Where it is used, translation memories cut costs on repetitions by around 15%.

Technology & AI

The latest technology, used with a clear head.

Technology takes the routine off us – not the judgement. For decades we have worked with CAT tools, translation memories and terminology databases; we use AI and machine translation as a tool within a controlled process revised to DIN EN ISO 17100. The machine brings speed on repetitions and large volumes – the content-critical decisions (numbers, negations, law, medicine, tone) are made by the specialist. Because AI translation often sounds fluent but is not always correct.

One contact for all languages and fields. How we combine technology and specialist judgement – and where raw AI reaches its limits – you can read under specialised translation; for machine-pre-translated raw texts there is post-editing (MTPE).

FAQ

Questions for the Fachübersetzungsdienst.

What is the Fachübersetzungsdienst (FÜD)?

The Fachübersetzungsdienst (FÜD) is a translation agency registered with DIN CERTCO for translation services under DIN EN ISO 17100 for specialised and certified translations in over 70 languages. Professional translators translate for companies and private clients; authorised translators produce certified translations for authorities and courts.

What does a translation at the FÜD cost?

The price depends on volume, language direction, field and deadline. You receive a binding fixed price before the order; for certified translations, certification and advance PDF and postal delivery are included. As a guide, translations start from € 0.89 per standard line.

Does the FÜD offer certified translations?

Yes. For certificates, diplomas and official documents, court-authorised translators produce a certified translation with a certification note, recognised by authorities and courts nationwide – at a price including delivery.

Which languages does the FÜD translate into?

Into over 70 languages and numerous combinations – from English, French and Spanish to Turkish, Arabic, Russian and Chinese. For every language and field we assign native-speaker professional translators.

Does the FÜD work with machine translation or AI?

Controlled technology such as translation memories and terminology databases supports quality, but responsibility lies with assigned professional translators. On request we handle your job entirely without machine translation and AI.

How fast does the FÜD deliver?

For manageable documents a few working days is usual; for urgent cases we offer a 24-hour express subject to feasibility. We name the exact deadline bindingly with the quote.

Do I need an apostille for my translation?

That depends on the target country and authority. An apostille confirms the authenticity of a public document for use abroad and is issued by the competent authority – not by the translation agency. We tell you whether and what for you need one; if the apostille must be obtained before translation, we translate it too.

Which documents does the FÜD translate as certified?

Typical are certificates (birth, marriage, divorce), diplomas, driving licences, commercial-register and court documents, contracts and notarial deeds. For use with an authority, authorised translators produce a certified version with a certification note.
