Berlin as a business location
Capital city, seat of government, start-up stronghold and centre of science – Berlin's industries generate very different translation needs. We assign the right specialist to every job.
As the capital, home to federal authorities, embassies and international organisations: certified certificates, legal and administrative texts – German ⇄ English and in many other languages.
For the start-up metropolis and companies such as Zalando: website and app localisation, contracts, pitch and marketing copy, transcreation.
For Humboldt University, Freie Universität, TU Berlin and research institutes: dissertations, journal articles and publications – scientifically precise.
For companies such as Siemens and Deutsche Bahn: technical documentation, standards and safety documents – terminology-checked.
Around companies such as Axel Springer: editorial copy, marketing and transcreation that also work in the target culture.
For hospitals and the German Red Cross: clinical findings, patient and social-services documents – expert and strictly confidential.
Languages
Our translation service works in both directions; every job goes to a native-speaker specialist who gets the regional variant right – for public authorities, a sworn translator produces the certified version. The strongest demand in Berlin is for English, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Polish and French.
Certification & apostille
If the receiving body requires an apostille, it belongs before the translation: it is affixed to the original document first, and we then translate the document including the apostille note – so the certified translation remains fully usable in the destination country.
The apostille is issued by the competent authority, not by FÜD – which one depends on the document:
We tell you in advance which body is responsible for your document and translate the apostille note along with it. Source: service.berlin.de, as at 08/2026.
Responsibilities in Berlin
Berlin is a city-state: registry offices and citizens' offices are organised by district, while certification with an apostille lies with the relevant state authority. FÜD does not issue apostilles – we tell you in advance which body is responsible and deliver the certified translation including the apostille note.

| Apostille for notarial & court documents (contracts, judgments, notarial certifications) | President of the Regional Court (Landgericht) of Berlin, Tegeler Weg 17–21, 10589 Berlin | We clarify that the apostille belongs before the translation and translate the note along with it. |

On the ground
As the capital and seat of the federal government, ministries, embassies and international organisations, Berlin has a particularly high demand for certified and official translations – from certificates for authorities to start-up contracts. Its diplomatic, multilingual character calls for a broad range of languages, from the major world languages to rarer ones for recognition and administrative procedures.
As a centre of science with Humboldt University, Freie Universität, TU Berlin and numerous institutes, academic demand is added: dissertations, journal articles and publications. For every task we deploy a specialist in the relevant field – not the nearest generalist.
On the ground in Berlin
Over 98% of translation jobs for Berlin run entirely online: upload your document or send it by post, and we deliver the finished version – sealed, in the case of certified translations – nationwide by post. In-person submission is possible by appointment.
Certified translations are produced by court-authorised translators; they are accepted nationwide with the translator's certification note – regardless of which court granted the authorisation. For use abroad, we also translate the apostille note.
